Day 1: Arriving at Ho Chi Minh City – City tour and Dinner Cruise (D)
Arrival in Ho Chi Minh City (Tan Son Nhat International Airport), you will be met our local guide at the airport and transfer to downtown for short Ho Chi Minh City tour including: Reunification Palace, War Remnants Museum, Notre-Dame Cathedral, Old Post Office, City Hall and dinner on boat along Saigon River with entertainment. Overnight in Ho Chi Minh city.
Day 2: Mekong Delta - Cai Be (B, L)
Begin with 8:00 AM pick up at your hotel in Ho Chi Minh City, then make the trip through Mekong Delta region to Cai Be. On the way to Cai Be, you will see the colorful rice fields and fruit gardens, stop for coffee at a beautiful rest-stop in the Mekong. Arriving at Cai Be around 10:30 AM.
Visit a local religious landmark: see the Cao Dai temple. Board a motorboat to see two of Cai Be’s colorful markets, where vendors sell fresh fruit, vegetables, and handicrafts from boats and install on the shore. This is the perfect time to chat with locals and taste locally-grown fruits.
Continue in a smaller rowboat, so you can explore the tiny canals that connect homes and communities on the Mekong Delta. Return to the main motorboat for the trip to Tan Phong Island, where you can relax in the shade, cool off with a drink, and snack on fresh fruits.
Take a bike tour around the island, pausing to visit local workshops where handbags, rice paper,.. are made. Or you could have the opportunity to walk through the orchard and visit an ancient house of Mr. Kiet or Mr. Ba Duc in Dong Hoa Hiep ancient village.
After lots of activities, pause for lunch in a local restaurant. After lunch, make the return boat trip to Cai Be, and drive back to Ho Chi Minh City
Day 3: Cu Chi Tunnels - Transfer airport to Ha Noi (B, L)
In the morning, after breakfast, enjoy 1.5 hours driving to the northwest of Ho Chi Minh City - Cu Chi tunnels. Located 37 miles (60km) from Ho Chi Minh City, Cu Chi tunnels is now considered a heroic district for its role during the American war in Vietnam. The tunnel complex was initially started in 1948 to protect the Viet Cong guerrillas from the French air and ground sweeps. The tunnels also served as communication routes, storage facilities for food and weapon caches as well as hospitals and living quarters for guerrilla fighters throughout the American war. A visit to the underground villages will provide a better understanding of the Cu Chi tunnels’ history, the hardship of life in the tunnels and the Vietnamese resilience during combat. Have lunch in a local restaurant then transfer directly to the airport for flight to Ha Noi
Upon arrival Ha Noi, you will be met our local guide at the airport and transfer to hotel for check-in. Overnight in Ha Noi
Day 4: Ha Noi half day city tour (B)
In the morning tour, we visit Ho Chi Minh’s complex, including the mausoleum of the nation’s founder and leader. Here, large crowds gather to pay their respects to the man they simply call “Uncle Ho” as they silently file past his glass sarcophagus. The Presidential Palace and Uncle Ho’s wooden stilt house can also be seen here. One of the must-see places in the complex is the One Pillar pagoda dating back to the 11th century.
The next stop is the Temple of Literature, the site of Vietnam’s oldest university and dedicated to one of the world’s most famous scholars, Confucius. Inside the temple grounds, huge steles rest on the backs of even larger stone turtles (in Vietnam’s culture, the turtle represents longevity). The stele recorded the names of the successful candidates who later became mandarins in the Emperor’s court. From here you will have a walking tour of Hanoi ‘s vibrant Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake, the focal point of the city, one of the must-see places in Hanoi for both domestic and international tourists.
Day 5: Ha Noi – Ha Long Bay (B, L, D)
After breakfast, the driver and van will pick you at the hotel to depart for the 3.5-hour drive to Halong Bay. Journey there through the rich farmlands of the Red River Delta, observe everyday life of Vietnamese villagers as they work the rice fields, take pigs to the market on motorbikes and plow the fields with their water buffaloes. Arrive from Hanoi late morning and welcome at the pier. Check-in procedures and transfer to your boat for the overnight journey into the Bay. Lunch is served on board as you cruise into Ha Long Bay. Cruise by rock formations with such names as Sail, Dog and Dinh Huong (incense pot). Towards the end of the day set anchor for the night as the sun sets followed by dinner. Overnight in Ha Long Bay.
Day 6: Ha Long Bay- Ha Noi(B, L)
Wake up and enjoy the sunrise, a wholesome breakfast before visiting the recently discovered Surprise Grotto with its great views, and on the next island see the yawning mouth of Bo Nau Cave. Continue visiting Bai Tu Long bay En route the junk weaves through strange-shaped rock formations that invite comparisons from fighting cocks to dragons and even General de Gaulle’s nose!
After another wonderful fresh seafood lunch on board, take a van back to Hanoi by road. Overnight in Ha Noi
Day 7: Ha Noi - Goodbye (B)
Free and easy activities at your leisure until being transferred to the airport for your departure.
End of tour.
